One of my favorite super producing fruits, I love the actual history of apple varieties as well as their mythological role in the Bible. The apple signifies the changing of the season for me, with light, color, shortening of days, varieties ripening at distinct weeks or months with their vastly different flavors. Making cider and pies, feeling the crisp autumn air as winter approaches. This season gives me great nostalgia for my youth in New England and also reminds me of the excitement for change and repetition that marks our lives.
