Dontcha Know
Part 1
When I moved to the midwest in 2009, I had never been west of Chicago. It felt like going back in time, but in a cool way. People valued the aesthetics of yesteryear and sort of embraced the kitschiness without irony. I reveled in that aesthetic and culture. It was simultaneously bizarre and familiar, but the familiarity felt like 1980s John Hughes movies.
Looking back I really didn’t take that many pictures, I was pretty broke at the time and really second guessed whether pictures would be worth it, sometimes for the better, most of the time probably not. I can see that sometimes I would go on a road trip for a long weekend and only took 4 pictures. Some of these pictures I’ve only found recently, over a decade later and now they are some of my favorites. Perhaps I’m bored of the ones I liked back then because I’ve sat with them for so long. Makes you wonder how tastes and what I’m photographing changes, or not?
To be continued in Part 2 - Enjoy!

Nice, Eric. Looking forward to seeing Part 2!
