Springtime in New York
(and Denmark and Sweden)
Having been more or less transient for four and a half months, trying to rediscover what I want out of life, work, etc - I always end up realizing that most of my experience is mitigated for better or worse through my photographing. A byproduct of this symbiotic relationship is that I can sometimes relive a majority of experiences through my archive. Most of the time not gargantuan life changing moments, but infinitesimally small gestures throughout my world that I didn’t even notice at the time.
The renewal of spring is the fast tracked version of this fleeting sensation. With the melting snow, the sudden burst of energy from dormant seeds and buds turning into flowers, you can miss these moments in mere hours. This year I had 3 springs, first in California, then New York, and finally in Denmark and Sweden. It’s truly magically I was able to extend this feeling of possibility, growth, and the beautiful fresh air, as long as my allergies stayed dormant. : )
