Hi!
I’m happy to announce my new book Stone Soup published by Nocturno Books—a new publisher from the minds of Brad Zellar and Ethan Jones based here in Minnesota. The book is now available for pre-order at a discounted price of $50 with free domestic shipping(expected June), and it will be released at two exhibitions in the coming months. First at Calcio opening on May 16th in London, and second at Ptolemy opening on July 18th in New York City!
Stone Soup brings together photographs from the past decade and presents them collaged on various fabrics from my collection to create a maximalist colorful aesthetic with playful and unexpected visual harmonies. The photographs offer a glimpse into my daily life—things grown in my garden, visits to friends’ houses, a trip to the beach, or a quiet moment. The collected textiles feel as if they exist within the same realm as my photographs, almost as if they were plucked straight out of a scene depicted in one of my images. Together, the collages are a true appreciation for the things, places, and people from my lived experience. Stone Soup is an idiosyncratic merging of art and life, and an accumulation of numerous moments in time.
The book functions as a bound facsimile of the actual fabric and photograph objects themselves. Each exhibition will present the unbound original versions, full of texture, color, and dimension.
In other news, Twice Told Tales just closed at TOA Presents here in Minneapolis, here is an installation view:
